Big and nutritious: What you should know about duck eggs

Meat of chicken, turkey, quail and chicken eggs - these are the products that you will find in the refrigerator of any housewife. As for the duck meat and duck eggs, they are unfairly pushed into the background.
It is really surprising that duck eggs have not received such popularity as chicken, despite the fact that they are bigger not only in size, but also richer in the concentration of nutrients.
They are almost twice the size of a standard chicken egg. If chicken eggs are mostly brown or white, the duck eggs please our eyes with a color palette. The most exotic meat-egg breed of ducks Cayuga with black-green plumage lays eggs from light gray to black and blue. Other breeds, for example, Indian runner, khaki-campbell, Indian or Rouen lay white, brown or light green eggs.

The shell of duck eggs is dense, it is difficult to break it and some people think that a thick shell contributes to the extended storage period.

But the most valuable is inside. Duck eggs are rich in the vitamins and minerals contained in them. Vitamin A, E, K, PP, B vitamins (including B1, B2, B5, B6, B9 and B12), as well as iron, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium, omega -3 fatty acids, threonine, isoleucine, lysine, proline, glycine and serine.

You can use duck eggs just like any others, i.e. you can fry them, boil or add to the dough. However, those who did not use them earlier will have to adjust a little. For example, you will need fifteen minutes to boil it hard and about 6-7 minutes to get it soft-boiled. Duck eggs should be thoroughly washed before cooking. However, this applies to chicken eggs either.

In our country they are not very common, but in the kitchens of Asian countries, especially Chinese and Vietnamese, this is the number one product. They are added to French fries, served with rice, but most often they are salted. They are placed in a special pickle with Chinese vodka bayzhu and left for 30-45 days.
Despite all these advantages, you should remember that they are much more caloric than traditional chicken eggs, they contain more fat and cholesterol. It means that you should not use them very often.

Duck eggs are not only eaten, they are also used as nutritious cosmetics (for face and hair masks). In order to cure thin, brittle hair, mix the yolk with a small amount of olive oil or burdock oil, apply to the hair and leave it for 15 minutes. After that, the mask should be washed off with an ordinary shampoo. If you mix the whole egg with two tablespoons of grated potatoes, you will get a wonderful nourishing face mask.

It is really difficult to find duck eggs in stores, so it's better to buy them directly from farmers who breed ducks.

It is always interesting to try something new, especially if it is also good for health. Perhaps, having tasted duck eggs one day, you will like them and they will become permanent quests in your kitchen.
