NKU Butter, is a boutique line of 100% natural unrefined shea butter products. All NKU Butter products are handmade by Joyce in small batches using unrefined shea butter straight from her home country of Ghana.
In Ghana, Shea butter is known locally in Ga as “nku” and in Akan as “nkuto". Shea butter has numerous healing and moisturizing capabilities.
In its raw state, Shea butter is thick and heavy, and needs to be ‘worked’ by rubbing it in your palms to obtain a soft, creamy paste, which can then be applied on the body or hair.
In 2009 NKU Butter was born from the desire to share the wonderful benefits of Shea butter in a texture that is convenient and easy to apply. The goal was to create 100% natural Shea butter products that would be safe for the skin, with Shea butter as the key ingredient. The emphasis of NKU butter products is on the naturalness of Shea butter and the benefit of the other natural ingredients.
