Nicotiana tabacum (Havana 608 Cuban Tobacco)
A sticky, thin-leaved Anuual that can reach up to six feet in height. Flowers pink July - September, prefers full sun will tolerate some shade. Mature 60-90 days.
Plant after last frost, will start germinating when soil reaches 70 degrees. Germination 10-14 days.
Scatter seeds on surface of prepared soil and tamp securely. Keep evenly moist. Space plants 2' apart. Transplant when plants reach 3-4"
In colder climates seeds can be started indoors and then transplanted outdoors.
I enjoy these growing these in pots on my patio as well. I only plant one plant to a large pot with smaller flowers around the outer edge of the pot. In a patio container you will need to make sure to keep them watered regularly.
I also like scattering the seeds in a larger area and letting them come up randomly. When the plants start getting around 3-4" I will transplant those that are growing to close to another area.
This plant has truley become one of my garden favorites. I continualy get compliments on the beauty and fragrence.
